marianne

  • Our team got to meet Marianne on their last trip to Colombia. These are the notes they shared after meeting her: " Marianne is hilarious! She is 12 years old and was very easy to chat with. She is a very smart girl and actually asked someone in our group who looks Italian if they were Italian so she is very aware and detail oriented. She is very confident, kind and funny with a little sass too :) From what we could tell she is healthy and active. She showed signs of adapting well to others especially as she held Andreas hand while we walked to a park a couple of blocks from her orphanage. Her orphange is in a very bad part of Colombia so I doubt she is able to go outside much which is sad. She was fascinated with our cameras so we let her borrow a phone to do a video and she knew exactly how to use the phone and took a ton of selfies. She also loves music and was able to navigate Youtube - she wanted to play Despocito. Everyone from our group was very surprised that she had not been adopted years ago. Unfortunately she has just been lost in the system. She would truly bless a family! We understand that she is eligible for a $15,000 older child adoption grant from Reeces Rainbow. And is also eligible for many other grants that are offered by different organizations. We are all praying that her family can find her before she ages out and is no longer able to join a family. If that happens she will be moved into an adult institution and will more than likely pass away due to lack of love.
